Metal cutting is one of the major processing technology in the manufacturing technology. It decides the machining efficiency, precision, quality and cost. In the past years, high efficiency and advanced tools have a prodigious development. Advanced tools experience a great change from the material to the Structure.This project aims to meet the two needs of high efficiency, high speed, high precision and industrial production. And the project takes example for the fir tree milling cutter, to study the design and experiment of the high efficiency and high performance tools.Fir tree milling cutter is used to process the fir-type grooves in rotors. Generally speaking, the manufacturing and designing level of the fir tree milling cutter is lower than some countries, especially the finishing tools major rely on the imports. So the study on high efficiency and advanced fir tree milling cutter must take effort to the structure designing, grinding simulation technology, manufacturing technology and so on. Thus we can improve the manufacturing level of the steam turbine industry and competitive strength taking part in the international market, in order to promote the rapid and sustainable development in the tools industry.This paper major study the application to the tool modeling and the grinding simulation of technology tool structure designing. Through the study on the modeling simulation, we can have a theoretic analysis that the design of tool structure has a impact on the tool cutting. Also through the cutting experiment on the working scene, we can study the cutting force, cutting temperature, cutting vibration produced in the machining process. It can help us verify the design of tool structure in order to solve the application of the advanced tools.
