Surface texturing technology is a specific application branch of surface technology, and this technology is broadly used in the domains of manufacturing to produce cold-rolled steel. A series of surface topography of steel plate have great effects on deep drawing process, coating process, etc. This is because that a series of tiny pits on the textured steel plate can be stored lubricating fluid in the process of metal forming, consequently, the lubrication conditions is improved greatly; furthermore, due to the increasing of contact area of the coating and the steel plate surface, the adsorption capacity of the plate to paint is enhanced. In essence, textured steel plate is the attenuation "copy" of textured steel roll. Therefore, exploration and development of practical and advanced texturing roll technique is very imperative.Electrical discharge texturing (EDT) is developed from the electrical discharge manufacturing (EDM), and EDT relies on the unique principle of electrical discharge processing method. Compared with the usual shot blasting technology (SBT), laser beam technology (LBT), EDT has obvious economic benefit and social benefit, therefore, to promote this technology will help improve the level of our domestic automobile industry. Methods to promote processing stability and to improve processing homogeneity in traditional media kerosene had been researched in this thesis. The effects of liquid on texturing quality in the kerosene had been researched by designing experiments, meanwhile, the effects of EDM parameters and peak current on texturing (surface roughness (Ra), unit length number of dent (Pc), processing speed (Vm)) had been researched. Furthermore, we analyzed and explained the reasons for the formation of such laws. Based on the problems (carbon deposition, hidden danger, etc.) rising in the process of electrical discharge texturing in the traditional kerosene, the law of Water-based demonized water process had been researched. Also, filtration system and work bench had been developed, which made the process in demonized water can be achieved. Meanwhile, the effects of EDM parameters and peak current on texturing in media of demonized water (surface roughness (Ra), unit length number of dent (Pc), processing speed (Vm) had been researched. Furthermore, we analyzed and compared effects of two different types of working fluid (oil-based fluids and water-based working fluid) on the process results. The thesis shows that, demonized water is more suitable for EDT and easier to get better processing results than the working fluid of kerosene.
