The thickness and shape qualities of strip as two important indexes are essentiallycontrolled by the roll gap control, depending largely on roll system dynamics. Thus,according to the researches of the dynamics of four-high mill roll system and the dynamicmodel of strip rolling process, the dynamic model of rolling process based on the rollsystem dynamics is established and its simulation is explored in this paper.To explore the transverse dynamics of the roll system, considering the effects of sheardeformation and the rotational inertia, the paper lists the transverse free vibration equationbased on the Timoshenko beam model where rolls are treated as elastic continuous bodies.Accounting into the non-fixing of the roller's both ends and the vertical displacementfluctuation, ends are regarded as the elastic supportings. The roll system transverse freevibration's natural frequencies and modes are arrived, relying on the analytical method.Based on the roll system transverse free vibration, this paper emphasizes theestablishment of the transverse forced vibration model and vibration rules under thedifferent exciting forces such as rolling pressure, bending roll force. And roll gapdistribution rule and the influence on rolling process are investigated.Taking the dynamics of roll system and metal deformation of rolling process intoconsideration and combining the dynamic flow of metal per second equal theory, the stripdynamic rolling process model is built. The analysis of a vertical slice in the deformationzone derives the dynamic Karman equation, including roll gap change rate. Furthermore,the unit rolling pressure and the various parameters are obtained by solving this equation.Couple the roll system dynamics and dynamic rolling process models together,establish the dynamic rolling process model based on roll system dynamics. Get variousrolling parameters changing with time on the Matlab software. In all, this paper will laythe foundation for the online comprehensive dynamic control of thickness and shape.
