Two Electroluminescent materials based on Carbazole were studied by our group. In the study, we explained the structure of these two new materials and received properties of them by some common instruments.A copolymer was synthesized by condensation reaction between aldehyde and amide. Two aldehyde group were introduced to carbazole in order to get N-octyl-3,6-bis aldehyde carbazole. N-octyl-3,6-bis aldehyde carbazole-(P-phenylenediamine) copolymers were synthesized from compounds received above and P-phenylenediamine through a condensation reaction. FTIR, DSC, NMR, GPC, UV, PL were used in order to make the structure of the copolymer and obtain the properties of it. Carbazole and schiff base group were observed on the main chain of the copolymer. Thus, the copolymer has a very good hole transport ability. In benefit of this ability, the copolymer can give very pure blue light when be excited. Because of the relatively high Tg(Tg=178℃), the copolymer we synthesized also has good thermal stability. There is another scheme, that is, introduce Single-amino-POSS to the Nitrogen of carbazole. In this way, we can get a kind of Star-shaped molecules which the core is POSS and the arm molecules are carbazole which can give out light. This scheme can get a kind of polymer molecules which have higher hole transport ability. The main fuction of POSS group is insulation which can lead to a more purable light and can increase the luminescence of the polymers. In addition, the blend system of polymer and POSS was studied as well. The main work is about the influence on the luminescence properties of the new luminescent materials result from the POSS.
