This dissertation takes macrocyclic metal complexes with pendant-arm as research objects, focusing on the study of synthesis, characterization and properties of them. In addition, the binding of CT-DNA and the cleavage activity of plasmid DNA pBR322 of the complexes have been also investigated.It was prepared and characterized by IR, UV,1H-NMR, and Xray diffractions techniques. Then, interactions with CT-DNA were also systematically investigated via UV-vis absorption, circular dichroism (CD) spectra, fluorescent spectroscopy, viscosity experiment and cyclic voltammetry (CV) experiment. Cleavage activities of the complexes to pBR322 DNA have been monitored by agarose gel electrophoresis.The work is composed of:1. Through the reactions, N, N-bis(3'-aminopropyl)-3-pyridylmethy lamine was synthesized in present of 3-pyridylmethylamine and acrylonitrile.The structure of production was characterized by IR and H1NMR. L1 was synthesized in present of 2,6-diformyl-4-methylphenol and ethylenediamine.Then the new complexes [CuL'(C104)]CH3CN-H20 1.was derived.2. Through the reactions, N,N'-bis(2-thiophene)-N,N'-bis(3-formyl-5-methyl-salicylaldehyde)ethylenediamine(L2) was synthesized in present of thiophene carboxaldehyde, ethylenediamine and paraformaldehyde.The structure of production was characterized by IR and H1NMR. Three of new unsymmetrical macrocyclic dinuclear complexes of N(amine)2N(imine)2O2 were synthesized by template method.Then the new complexes [Zn2L1(Cl)2]CH3CN 2, complexes [Co2L1(Cl)2]·H2O 3 and complexes [Zn2L2(OAc)](C104)CH30H 4were characterized.3. Binding mode of complexes 1,2,3and4, respectively, with CT-DNA were investigated systematically via fluorescent spectroscopy, UV-vis absorption, CD spectra and CV experiment, etc. Cleavage activities of the complexes to pBR322 DNA have been monitored by agarose gel electrophoresis. The SOD-like activity of the complex 1 were also researched.
