With the rapid development of global offshore oil industry, and to achieve the great-leap-forward transformation from the shallow to the depths, higher requirements are put forward for the safety of oil pipeline. At the same time, the various pipe connection technology is also increasingly applied offshore oil production systems. Among them, recycling horizontal subsea pipe connector is a new and efficient pipeline connection technology. Through coarse alignment, alignment, connection, lock, unlock, recycling and other steps, horizontal connector achieve connection of soft and hard pipelines and underwater fixed oil facilities.The research subject is one branch of underwater separator and its related technical research. The main task of paper is to develop the experiment prototype of horizontal connector which forms a complete set of 1500m depth and is applicable to 6 "diameter, and to research the key techniques.Through the domestic and abroad pipeline connectors scheme research, and according to actual working conditions, the overall design scheme of experiment prototype of horizontal connector is put forward. This design process is in accordance with ISO13628 standard (petroleum and natural gas industries - design and operation of subsea production systems). Horizontal connector body is composed of three parts, including installation tools, joint institutions and fixed support. The strength calibration for main components was done according to the finite element analysis software. Applying ADAMS software, the dynamics and kinematics simulation are made for the collision of base sleeve and cone-shaped oriented body, the hydraulic cylinder advanced process and the collet holding process ,and verify the rationality of the design parameters.The design of connector hydraulic system solutions is according to the actual working condition. Considering the load hydraulic cylinder exerted has an important influence on connection performance, the hydraulic cylinder force servo-control system is established, and the transfer function of valve control hydraulic cylinder force servo system is calculated. Through MATLAB/Simulink analysising the characteristic and PID controller calibrating the system, the stability is improved and the system has good dynamic performance.Through the sealing experiment of connector joint, the results demonstrate that the sealing ring flange structure is rational, and the seal performance can achieve performance indicators of actual working conditions. That provides a reliable reference for the follow-up connector design.
