With the widespread using of the coal auger in thin seam coal mining, its performance gets more and more attention. The cutting bit is the most important working part, so the study of bit parameters has practical significance for reasonable designing of coal auger bit.In order to study the mechanical characteristics and dynamic behavior of a coal auger bit, first of all, the calculation method of the resistance on each pick is given by the force analysis of picks; a mathematical model of the three directional loads for bit is established in the paper. Load curves in different coal and rock, different structural parameters and picks parameters are obtained by using Matlab program, and then analyze that how parameters influence on the performance of coal auger. Last of all, in order to study the dynamic load characteristics, analyze the distribution on frequency domain of drilling load. By using random process theory and probability and statistics theories, and computer simulation program, simulate the drill loading spectrum curve. The study of loading spectrum has the reference value for the design and improving the dynamic structure of coal auger bit.These results have important significance and reference values for choosing coal auger, determining the structural parameters of the bit exactly, improving the performance of coal auger and the efficiency of drilling.
