Chiral separation methods include crystallization separation, chemical separation, enzyme separation, extraction separation method, chromatographic separation and membrane separation method. Solid membrane separation processes get much more attention as they have the characteristics of low energy consumption, high stability and continuous operation capability. Chiral sites in the chiral solid membrane have the difference in the affinity of the isomers(D,L), so under different driving force, the different isomers can permeate through the membrane at different ratio. Thus, the isomers can be separated. The aim of this thesis is to prepare a chiral solid membrane with both high separation factor and high flux.Chiral ionic liquid is a new kind of chiral recognition agent, which has both the advantages and properties of the ionic liquid and chiral compound, it has great potential in the chiral separation. In this paper we synthesised a kind ofβ-cyclodextrin-based chiral ionic liquid, which was then immobilized on to the hydrolysed PAN membrane using electrostatic adsorption self-assembly technology, The resulted membrane was characterized using IR,SEM and AFM. The influence of complex layers of membrane and the pH on resolution were studied in the experiment of chiral separation of Tryptophan. It was noted that composite layers has great influence on the separation. The increase in the composite layers of membranes leads to the smaller the flux. This paper also investigated the optimum conditions of Tryptophan separation using chiral colum (CROWNPAK CR (+)). The influences of the mobile phase composition, flow rate, wavelength on the Tryptophan separation were also studied. The experimental results suggested that the optimum conditions are as follows:the mobile phase is a mixture of 10% methanol and 90% perchloric acid(pH=2) at a flow rate of 1.5mlxmin-1. The analysis is performed at ambient temperature at the wavelength of 280 nm.In addition, the inclusion phenomena ofβ-CD with Trp and the inclusion phenomena ofβ-cyclodextrin-based chiral ionic liquid with Trp was studied. The experiment results show that bothβ-CD andβ-cyclodextrin-based chiral ionic liquid had different chiral recognition ability on D-Trp and L-Trp.
