Titanium carbide has many advantages,such as high temperature resistance, high strength,high oxidation resistance,excellent thermal conductivity and so on.As composite materials, Titanium carbide have a wide range of applications in cutting tools,aerospace,machining,other fields,and the coating material for electrical contact coatings, diamond coatings. Ultrafine composite powders of titanium carbide composite material as a reinforcing phase,has great value for development and application.Carbon nanotubes have excellent heat resistance,corrosion,heat transfer and electrical conductivity,high temperature and high strength,self-lubricating properties,combined with the titanium carbide was prepared composites,titanium carbide powder's overall performance can be improved.This paper has the following aspects:1.Carbon nanotubes were prepared with Limonite as ilmenite raw material using microwave plasma chemical vapor deposition method.From the thermodynamic point of view of reducing the growth of carbon nanotubes during the reduction of the possibility of ilmenite,the results confirmed the growth of carbon nanotubes,while ilmenite was ruduced into titanium dioxide.2.By studing the growth temperature of carbon nanotubes,gas flow, chamber pressure,and many other factors, the best growth conditions were obtained: microwave power 600W,methane flow rate 55sccm,gas flow 2.3sccm,chamber pressure 5.5KPa.3.Mandatory use of carbon dioxide/carbon nanotubes composite powder was heated by microwave,titanium carbide/carbon nanotube composite powders were prepared.The microwave heating power and carbonization time's impact on the composition and morphology of the carbonized products was investigated.Increasing microwave power can obtain higher responsiveness, but too high power will lead to powder agglomeration.Too short carbonation time results in incomplete carbonation, while long carbonation time results in carbide particle size's increasement. the microwave power 700W, carbonization time 10min were the optimal conditions to synthese Titanium carbide/ carbon nanotube composite powders.4.Nickel - carbon nanotube / TiC composite coating were prepared by titanium carbide /carbon nanotube composite powders as additives via composite plating process, the experimental results certified that the composite coating can greatly improve the hardness of nickel deposits and friction performance.
