In this thesis, 19 target molecules (including 9 compounds with two aromatic, 10 compounds with three aromatic) have been designed and synthesized. On the first hand, these compounds were synthesized through Mitsunobu reaction and Wolfgang-Steglich esterification and characterized with nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer, Fourier transform infrared spectrometer, mass spectrometer and elemental analysis. On the second hand, the phase transitions of these compounds were studied through differential scanning calorimeter and polarizing microscope. Moreover, the self-assembly behoviours of these compounds in solvents with different polarity was studied using scanning electron microscopy, X-Ray diffractomer and circular dichroism. The study on the self-assembly behavoirs of these compounds gave us opportunities to prepare chiral structures at both micron- and nano-scales which were potentially applied for electronics and optics.
