There is a new development concerning the emerging class of near-infrared (NIR) organic compounds recently. Near-infrared organic materials can mainly be divided into three groups: NIR-absorbing organic materials, NIR-emissive organic materials and NIR reflective materials whose applications are diverse and extensive in many technological sectors. Such as photoelectric conversion, telecommunications, information-storage materials, solar cells, NIR light-emitting diodes, medical applications, coating for buildings as heat reflectors, etc. Phthalocyanines having a NIR absorption near 700nm, which belongs to NIR materials, have played a major role in the area of functional material science, such as solar cell materials, electrofluorescence materials, electrofax, information-record materials in optical disks, sensing device in chemical sensor, liquid-crystal display materials, unlinear optics, synthesis of metal and electric conduction polymers, electro-catalysis materials in fuel cells, etc. Especially the research on the synthesis and properties of the asymmetric ones. However, phthalocyanines have a certain restriction in practical applications owning to its low solubility in many solutions.This principal product which has a strong absorption peak in NIR region ( 1900nm-2000nm ) was composed by accident during the synthesis of components for phthalocyanine . According to some related documents, the structure had been confirmed and the properties had been discussed particularly.(1) It's easy to be synthesized with a low reaction temperature(50℃)and a mild condition and to be purified. It also has a good productivity and solubility, especially in acetone and can be place a long time without degeneration.(2) The stock solution's UV spectrum indicates a NIR absorption. After column chromatography, 4 substances were obtained, number 2 and 4 have NIR absorption, number 2 is colorless and has a low productivity, thus was not analyzed temporarily. Number 4 is colorless in acetone but faint yellow in solid state and has a comparatively high yield, thus should be focused on.(3) This paper centers on the NIR absorption properties of 4, whose IR, UV-Vis, MS,MRI were analyzed explicitly, the structure was obtained, may lay the foundation for further research.
