Bag filters are effective dedusting equipment to control the air pollution. Bag filters are widely used in industry because they are not only high efficiency, but also can control dust of different particle diameters and properties. Filter-bag is the most important part of the bag filters, and it not only costs one thirds of the totle outlay but also needs replaced in periodical. So how to elongate the service life of the Filter-bag is very important.Based on literature survey, anti-corrosion equipment was set up, and the change of fracture, and mechanical characteristic of PPS filter from nitrogen dioxide exposures(different temperature, nitrogen dioxide concentration and hours) were studied in this paper, and the PPS filter samples from nitrogen dioxide exposures were also analysed with the help of Scanning Electron Microscope and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer. In addition, the corrosion of nitric oxide to PPS filter was studied through experimental media to compare with the corrosive effect of nitrogen dioxide In conclusion, nitrogen dioxide had stong corrosive effect on PPS filter leading to the decrease of mechanical properties and fibre damage, yet nitrogen oxide had a smaller corrosive effect on PPS filter.Based on the experimental results of fracture, tensile strength, tensile elongation, morphology and infrared spectrum, the aging reason of PPS filter was explored.
