With the elevation of the thin-slab continuous casting technology, the technology of the thin-slab continuous casting of steel have been more used in the metallurgical industry, also occupies a large proportion in steel production. In 2004, BX-STEEL introduced the thin slab continuous casting and rolling production line. Mould Level Control System is an important part of the control system in continuous casting machine, to ensure that the continuous casting machine is safe and reliable. The level fluctuations may lead to protective dregs and the impurities get into the steel water, which could affect the quality of the steel or even cause the steel water to leak and overflow. So the level must be controlled within a reasonable range.The static PID control system is used in mould level control system of thin-slab continuous casting in BX-STEEL, PID parameters from the foreign expert, based on the actual situation on-site and debugging experience. This paper introduces the level static PID control system structure and control principle of the thin-slab continuous caster in BX-STEEL, and analysis the mould level control method. However, the mould level system has the characteristics of the non-linear and time-varying, there are many unsure disturbing factors in this system so the precise mathematical model can not be proposed. The static PID control system could not be satisfying with the requirement of higher automation and quality. In addition, off-line tuning of the PID parameter is poor adaptability of the working conditions, can not adapt to the complex conditions and the performance requirements of high indicators. This paper proposes mould level fuzzy PID control solution based on the analyzes.This paper designes the mould level fuzzy PID control system of the thin-slab continuous caster in BX-STEEL, and simulates the static PID system and the fuzzy PID system by MATLAB. The simulation results show that the fuzzy PID control system has a very good self-tuning ability and adaptive ability to overcome the shortcomings of static PID system. The fuzzy PID control system can meet the requirements of the production process to the mould level control system.
