As an important processing method of precision and ultra-precision machining, grinding receive the increasing attention; so experts and scholars both at home and abroad have invented many new processing method of grinding and carried out the extensive research on the grinding mechanism of many types of materials. This fixed abrasive grinding method is called as micro-end grinding. Due to a number of factors have the impact on grinding process; the workpiece surface is very complex, so despite the grinding process has been used to obtain a higher accuracy and lower surface of the surface roughness, but the study of the grinding mechanism is not enough depth. With the increasingly widespread application of grinding technology, people are increasingly concerning about the post-processing surface quality factors. Therefore, this article studies the traditional material grinding mechanism:45 steel, and carries out the study on the following aspects:1. In this paper, the grinding mechanism and the formation of surface of 45 steel are studied. The abrasive of traditional granular slow grinding is randomly in the grinding apparatus, so the relationship of movements between abrasive and workpiece is uncertain, and that's why it is difficult to analyze their processes. In the fixed abrasive grinding, the movement relations between the abrasive and the workpiece are regular. On this basis, first of all makes the assumption that the cutting edge of abrasive is the ball-shaped crown, and the abrasive on grinding apparatus is uniform distributed, and then analyses the abrasive grinding force and the deformation of binder in the grinding process, finally we can get the grinding geometry structure of abrasive, and establish the mathematical model of fixed abrasive grinding.2. The paper also carries out the mathematical modeling for the track of a point on grinding apparatus. Having analyzed the various factors that have impact on the grinding track theoretically, and taking the verification in reliability for the above-mentioned theoretical analysis with interrelated experiment, the paper finally gets the relationship between the grinding track and the workpiece's eccentric location (e), the relationship between speed (ω2) and the relationship between the abrasive speed (ω1),eccentricity (e).3. The workpiece surface roughness of fixed abrasive grinding have been analyzed theoretically, and the relationship between workpiece surface roughness, the volume of material removal and all process parameters(grinding time, abrasive particle size, grinding speed and grinding pressure) have been studied. The studies show that different grinding parameters have a certain impact on these two indicators, and abrasive particle size has a greater impact on the surface roughness.
