As a vital constituent of TMCP (thermomechanical controlled processing), the technology controlled cooling is an effective facility to improve the plate's combination property, such as microstructure and mechanical property. The temperature field's model, which is the core of plate's controlled cooling system after rolling, determines accuracy control directly. Especially in the plate's production, to study the temperature field's model, is useful to improve the process control system's control accuracy, and to execute the cooling remime strictly.In this paper, taking controlled cooling system after rolling in some plate plant as the research background, with the applicability, the flexibility and high computation accuracy to solve complex boundary conditions, temperature field model in plate controlled cooling process is developed by the use of FEM (finite element method), and applied on-line. The main contents of this paper are as followings:(1)Study on the theoretical basis of FEM of temperature fieldBased on the heat-transfer mechanism, it is to establish the mathematical model for plate controlled cooling process. The theoretical basis to solve the heat conduction differential equations by FEM is introduced, including the related theoretical knowledge to solve the temperature field by FEM, such as the variation principle, Jacobi matrices, Gauss numerical integration, and so on, and it deduces the calculation equation to solve temperature field by FEM.(2) Development of FEM modelAccording to processing requirements in controlled cooling process, to study the related theoretical models to solve temperature field, such as physical property parameters, processing methods of boundary conditions, partition principle of the finite element meshes, and so on. Based on these, it is to study the numerical calculation to solve temperature field by FEM. Finally, it is to compile FEM model of temperature field by C++. (3) Study of the performance FEM modelAgainst the practical situation of plate's production during controlled cooling process, to optimize the FEM model during air-cooling and water-cooling process, respectively. Training of FEM model of temperature field on the conditions of different plate's thickness, different patterns of the finite element meshes and different time steps.By handling and analyzing the computational accuracy and response time on the different conditions, it is to obtain the optimum element meshes and the optimum time step, to meet the needs of program module's on-line application.(4)Application of FEM modelMaking the temperature field's FEM model as the core component, instead of which is the previous of on-line Accelerated Cooling control system, the results indicate that the temperature field's FEM model has a better response speed and a better control accuracy, meets the controlled cooling system's on-line application requirements.
