The quality control of the wire rod character mostly depends on the scientific and feasibility of the control of the cooling process .And the water cooling block in the production line is the key device of cooling process to control the quality of the rod's microstructure and mechanical properties in eventually. Research on water cooling process not only make clear about the rule of the synthesis quality of finished size wire rod that influence by each cooling parameter ,but also provides the theory basis and the scientific method for the control of the process when product wire rod ,such as form the wire rod temperature controlled strategy.This paper is base on the reform project of the DANIELI high speed production line in the plant of one Iron & Steel company .It provides the feasible plan about the reconstruction of the water cooling line layout by means of research and analysis on the cooling process of one type of wire rod, establish temperature field model of wire rod controlled cooling and carry out the cooling parameters optimization that influence the temperature field .Uses finite element method to simulate the changing temperature field of the cooling process and solution the model by ANSYS software. Apply the DOE method to analysis primary and secondary factor of the cooling process and research the feasibility of modification scheme by the rule of wire temperature influence on controlled cooling parameters. And to make the simulation design process more visual and convenient, it uses VC++ to develop friendly user interface which integrates the APDL language and DOE method.Through deep research of the water cooling process, it can improve the inadequacies of the original control process and find out the key factor of the cooling process and achieve the purpose of optimal combination relations by match the three parties including different varieties, cold equipment utilization and parameters of cooling process; indemnify the product quality, improve varieties of products production ability and performance prediction of the product quality. Meanwhile, meet the developing enterprises demand which eager to improve production technology, and promoting the transformation of scientific research achievements into productive forces.
