The stationary phase is the key factor in chromatographic separation. The thesis describes the synthesis of a novel polymer-based material, preparation of ion chromatography stationary phases and their application in ion chromarography.A monodisperse copolymer particles of styrene and 3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl methacrylate were prepared by two-stage dispersion polymerization in the study, which had controlled size in 3-7μm and narrow size distribution. Monodisperse organic-inorganic hybrid materials were produced by a subsequent treatment of hydrolytic process and represented good mechanical character. In the preparation of ion chromatography stationary phases, grafted ion exchange resin and agglomerated ion exchange resin were produced by different modifications in materials' surface. The stationary phases were evaluated in chromatography. According to the relationship between the concentration of the mobile phase and retention time of the samples, retention mechanism of the two stationary phases is entirely reasonable for ion exchange. The agglomerated ion exchange resin represented very high column efficiency. The srationary phases showed good repeatability and stability in basic mobile phase. The agglomerated ion exchange resin can separate inorganic anions (IO3-,BrO3-,NO2-,Br- and NO3-) and aromatic organic acid efficiently, which affirmed its application value in ion chromatography.
