Most photochromic diarylethenes offer excellent thermal stability of both isomers, fatigue resistant character, rapid response, and high reactivity in the solid state, which show large potential application value in high-technology area and daily life. Therefor, exploring new photochromic diarylethenes materials is very meaningful in theoretical research and practical application.Firstly, in this paper, we have a short review to analyse and discuss some new and effective researches on organic photochromic compounds in recent years, which acts as a reference for our own research.Secondly, we have synthesized three photochromic diarylethenes compounds based on silole by Suzuki reaction. BTE-1 and BTE-2 show both photochromism and aggregation induced emission, and the fluorescence was quenched during photochromic process, but BTE-polymer is highly emissive in dilute solutions and become weakly luminescent when fabricated into thin film.Thirdly, Photochromic compounds 3a and 3b with two or three different diarylethene systems have been prepared. The two compounds show different UV-visible absorption changes upon irradiation with 254 nm and 365 nm light, and the response time is also different. Then, eletronwithdrawing group linked to the side chain of thiophene can improve the efficiency of the cyclization quantum, shorten the response time. We have prepared a photochromic polymer 4c which takes photochromic reaction both in solution and solid state.
