Wet wipes is one of essential health cleaning products in People's Daily life. Since entering the market, it has deeply attracted the consumers, especially the young ladies, with its advantages of soft, clean, healthy, simple portable, convenient, etc. With the development of economy and the improvement of people's living standard, it is expected that the wet wipes'market will still continue prospering and grow rapidly in the next 10 years. However, wet wipes have brought a series of waste disposal problem, which has increased the burden of the environment. Thus, the desire of making a kind of flushable products which is friendly to environment has been becoming more and more urgent.This paper starts with choosing the raw material. Furthermore, the web formation and reinforcement processing are studied. We focus on the technology of fiber carding combined with wood pulp or bumf, and explore the relevance between the spun laced process parameters and the property of products. Finally, we manufacture the flushable materials adopting the optimization process, then compare with the wet wipes at the market referred to the national standard.Our research results indicate that the rectangle cross-section of flat viscose fiber leads to lower bend rigidity than cross viscose fiber, this particular configuration contributes the better tangly properties in the web formation processing of viscose fiber. Besides, pulp and flat viscose fiber composite material can be broken up easily. In general, the higher pulp content, the better flushable capacity. Considering the requirements of strength for daily use, wood pulp content must be 75% or less in control. The surface density of flushable material is between 40 g/m2 and 60 g/m2. The flushable level of the materials has a small difference between the web formation of carding and air-jet, but in order to ensure vertical strength, the mechanical carding is more suitable. The composite materials of flat viscose and wood pulp paper with double-layer have superior properties. In the process of reinforcement, adopting the following level, the pre-wet pressure of 20bar, spun lace composite pressure of 30bar to 35bar, web speed of 15m/min, height between the web and nozzle of 40mm, twice hydroentangling, we can obtain the materials which have better flushable capacity and mechanical properties. Compared with the market wipes, our materials not only meet the national standards but also have the better flushable capacity. In summary, our researches have resolved the practical problems when encountered in processing. They will improve the development of hygiene non-woven as well as integrate Industry-Academia-Research in non-woven industrialization.
