In this paper, propoxylated bisphenol A (PBPA) with a certain average PO adducting number was synthesized by anionic polymerization of propylene oxide using sodium bisphenol A (SBPA) as a starting agent. The chemical structure of the product was confirmed by IR spectra and 1HNMR spectra. PO distribution indexes of the PBPA products corresponding to different catalysts were determined by HPLC as follows, 55.53% (KOH), 57.44% (NaOH), and 70.62% (SBPA). The experimental results showed that the product derived from SBPA had a much better PO narrow-distribution characteristic than the other products catalyzed by industrial catalyst KOH or NaOH.The novel Gemini surfactants propoxylated bisphenol A bis-sulfonate(φ-PBDS-2n, n=5, 7) and bola surfactants propoxylated bisphenol A bis-sulphate(PBDS-10) were was synthesized using PBPA as intermediates and their properties were studied.(1) The propoxylated bisphenol A bis-sulfonate(φ-PBDS-2 n, n = 5, 7) were made by chloric sulfoacid and PBPA-2n(n=5,7). The technique conditions of sulfonation were optimized. The chemical structure of the product was confirmed by IR spectra, MS and 1HNMR spectra. Sulfonation with n(HSO3Cl):n(PBPA-2n)= 6:1 was carried out at 50℃for 1.5 h, and sulfonation rate was 184.6 %.(2) The propoxylated bisphenol A bis-sulphate(PBDS-10) were made by chloric sulfoacid solution and PBPA-10. The technique conditions of sulfonation were optimized. The chemical structure of the product was confirmed by IR spectra and MS spectra. Sulfation with n(HSO3Cl):n(PBPA-10)= 3:1 was carried out at 30℃for 1 h, and esterification rate was 201.2 %.(3) The physical and chemical performance ofφ-PBDS-10 andφ-PBDS-14 were investigated. Theφ-PBDS-10's andφ-PBDS-14's cmc are 1.18×10-3mol·L-1 and 6.10×10-4 mol·L-1,γcmc are 34.97 mN/m and 32.82 mN/m at 25℃. LSDP(%)are 45 and 42; AM(mL/mol)are 559 and 616; foaming are 131mm and 126mm, H/H0 are 0.94 and 0.95; wetting are 71s and 79s.φ-PBDS-10 andφ-PBDS-14 have a good stability and its performances are: salt tolerance of 3.0% sodium chloride solution; anti-hard water: 700mg/L; pH stability: Contents are above 99% in the condition of pH 113 at 95℃for 12 h.(4) The physical and chemical performance of PBDS-10 were investigated. The PBDS-10 has two cmc which are 1.32×10-4 mol·L-1 and 3.35×10-3 mol·L-1 andγcmc is 42.71 mN·m-1 at 25℃. LSDP(%)is 49; AM(mL/mol)are 712; foaming is 75mm and H/H0 is 0.65. pH stability: Contents are above 93% under the alkaline condition at 95℃for 12 h.
