In this thesis, containing a chromophore, with a polymerizable functional group, based on the carbazole small molecule monrmers were designed and synthesized. And then, ring opening methathesis polymerization was used to produce the corresponding polymers. Finally, the polymer molecular weight, glass transition temperature and other datas were tested to investigate photorefractive properties of these prepared polymers.Carbazole compound with a chromophore was synthesized, which was modified by5-Norbornene-2-carbonyl chloride into the monomer with a norbornene chromophore. So did the monomer without the chromophore. Polymer P1, P2and P3were synthesized by monomers M1, M2and M3, with the catalysis of Grubbs2nd. The obtained monomers, intemediates, polymers were characterized by1H-NMR,13C-NMR, IR, GPC, TG, UV-vis. The results showed that the polymers with a clear chemical structure, mlecular weight of more than50,000, and light absorption in the visible region was observed due to the methylene chromophore. This work laid the foundation for further study of the photorefractive effect. Finally, photorefractive performance of polymers was tested with the method of two-wave coupling experiments. Optical photorefractive phenomenon was observed in norbornene polymers containing methelene chromophore without addition of photo sensitizer.
