With the rapid development of the manufacturing industry, China die&mold industry is in a golden period of development. But in our plastics mold enterprises, the backward management idea and lack of effective information management methods cause the low comprehensive strength and the passive position in the market. As a kind of advanced means of information management, PDM is widespread used in plenty of manufacturing enterprise, especially in design-oriented enterprises. Yet high implementation and maintenance costs make large general-purpose PDM unaffordable for most small and medium-sized plastics mold enterprise. Information systems designed for mold enterprises are lack of support for workflow, so they can't provide flexible support for the organization change and technology innovation of the enterprises. With the project process as the core of business processes, integrating the functions of PDM through workflow technology, which will improve the flexibility of PDM system, is the key to satisfy the demands of small and medium-sized plastics mold enterprise in information management.On the basis of development of the PDM system in an injection mold enterprise, the realization technologies of workflow-based PDM are studied.Firstly, according to the demand of document management module, product structure and configuration management module, engineering change management module and project management module in workflow management, the way of integration of these modules with workflow management is determined.Secondly, Enterprise modeling of workflow-based PDM is studied:(1) Based on the process approach of ISO9000and EPC, the meta model of a extended-Activity Diagram is raised, and a set of process modeling element is proposed to meet the demand of process modeling of plastics mold enterprise.(2) Base on the analyses of the business process of the plastics mold enterprise, the shortage of current department-role organization model is indicated, a new organization unit-project role is proposed to describe the performer defined in process.(3) The resources model, classification of resources and product information model of plastics mold enterprise are proposed. Thirdly, the architecture of PDM system based on the three layers. NET framework is proposed. The development of visual modeling tool and main PDM system are respectively based on C/S and B/S mode. Using model objects as the medium to transfer data between system layers, which reflects the concept of object-oriented. The development of data access layer follows the practice of Interface-oriented programming, implements factory pattern to facilitate database migration in the future.Finally, the visual modeling tool, workflow engine, task manager and monitoring tool of the workflow management module are detailed designed, the specific algorithm of the scheduling mechanism of workflow engine and the execution of node instantiation is given, and the function of process definition and process instance execution is realized.
