Methyl Pyruvate is an important kind of high value-added fine chemical intermediates which has broad market prospects in pharmaceutical and pesticide industries.In this paper, the industial process using methyl lactate as the starting material, liquid Bromine as the catalyst, Hydrogen Peroxide as the oxidant, Methyl Pyruvate for the production of Methyl Pyruvate was studied.At first, the three conponents two phases liquid-liquid equilibrium of Methyl Lactate. Dicloromathane and water was investigated. And the influence of Methyl Lactate on the mutual solubility of Dicloromathane-water at different temperatures was determined through turbidity point titration.This study will contribute to analyze the reaction mechanism of the synthesis of Methyl Pyruvate from Methyl Lactate. Meanwhile, the experiment dates were correlated by the equation of NRTL with Aspen Plus software, the calculated results greatly agree with the experimental results.In the second part, synthesis conditions for Methyl Lactate were discussed, and the yield reached literature level. In the third part, synthesis conditions for Methyl Pyruvate were studied, such as catalyst, reactant ratio, etc. The influences of reaction temperature, Hydrogen Peroxide solution concentration, reaction time and illumination were dicussed by one-factor and orthogonal experiment. The synthesis mechanisms of Methyl Pyruvate from Methyl Lactate through catalytic oxidation in Hydrogen Peroxide-Bromine system was dicussed. According to the research results, the reaction yield increased to 65%, which lay the foundation for future industrialization.
