In recent years, with the development of the social economy, accidents of water pollution occur frequently and the safety of drinking water became an urgent problem in our society. Establishing water quality early-warning system is an important and necessary technical measure to guarantee the quality and safety of drinking water. Research in this field has just started in domestic, and there are still some issues to be improved, such as interaction improving and timeliness promoting. In this thesis, supported by the National Key S&T Special Projects "Water Pollution Control and Treatment" (WPCT), investigations have been conducted on Geographic Information technology for analysis and prediction of water quality. Some primary results have been obtained. The main achievements of this thesis are listed as follows:(1) Due to the difference of data format, a GML-based(Geography Markup Language) data exchange technology was adopted to perform data standardization and data visualization. Online data transmission by using GML as a universal data format has been studied. Data visualization and interaction design based on WebGIS platform of water quality early-warning system have been achieved. The interaction of water quality early-warning was inproved.(2) In order to solve the problem of timeliness in rendering trends of water pollution, a WebGIS-based dynamic rendering technology for water pollution was proposed on the base of remote simulation. This technology used FluorineFX to get simulation data rapidly and achieved online rendering in a shorter time. The timeliness of the research for water quality early-warning was fairly promoted, and the costs was reduced as well.(3) The WebGIS module of Water Quality Monitoring and Early-warning System (WQMES) was developed and applied. We introduced Flex technology and.Net framework to this module, covering 11 different functional maps of water monitoring and warning. The GML-based data exchange technology and WebGIS-based dynamic rendering technology were both used in the module. The researched WQMES realized real-time monitoring, alerting and water quality trends prediction, and it is applied in several cities practically.
