With the development of our national economy, the demand in the domestic market for steel keeps increasing. As the main raw materials of steel, the demand for iron ores also keeps increasing, our country has become the world's largest iron ores importer. In the currents of the iron ores trade, Chemical composition analysis plays an important part, and total iron content in iron ore is the most important index. The detection methods can be divided into of chemical method and the fluorescence detection method two categories. Compared with chemical method, the fluorescence detection method is speedy, good reproducibility and low consumption of chemical reagent. With the development of modern science and technology, the fluorescence detection method has attracted international development trend. This paper gives the experimential data of iron ores which wre analysed in our laboratories in the passed two years. According to statistics theory, application significant testing technical and Variance analysis techniques, relevance and difference of test results between chemical method and the fluorescence detection method were analyzed. Differenciation and comparability between two methods are analyzed statistically in this paper by using the mathematical statistic method, and the feasibility of replacing chemical method by the fluorescence detection method is studied. The research work in this thesis, on one hand, can provide alternative decisions for replacing chemical method by the fluorescence detection method in our Laboratory. On the other hand,it can also provide a practical basis for formulating the national standard of the fluorescence detection method. and Put this paper has some practical significance.
