The induction motor as the main supporting beam pumping unit motors, there are many problems, such as the "big horse drive the little car" phenomenon, the power factor is low, it caused the high electricity cost of oil extraction problems. Shenyang University of Technology Tong Yi Co.,Ltd.raised the subject that a low-speed high torque rare earth permanent magnet motor is designed to replace the original matching motor through the problem caused by the pumping motor problems. Based on the subject, the paper design a 15kW low speed high torque permanent magnet synchronous motor, use it to replace 22kW induction motor which drive the beam pumping unit, the no-load and full-load motor starting characteristics is simulated used by Ansoft,the design parameters are optimizated. This subject has broad market prospects and good social benefits.The paper first introduced the beam pumping unit works and problems caused by the matching induction motor, and then review the rare-earth permanent magnet motor development at domestic and abroad, proposed that the original supporting 22kW induction motor was replaced by the low speed high torque rare earth permanent magnet synchronous motor based on the Modular winding structure in the induction of D.Howe's use of Modular winding structure of permanent magnet synchronous motors, achive the dual purpose of saving energy and improving the power factor,bring some economic benefits for the company. This paper focus on the analysis of Moular winding design based on the introduction of the structure and the design features of the low speed high torque permanent magnet synchronous motor , analysis the magnetic potential distribution program with the Matlab programe developed by the author,compared and analysis the magnetic potential distribution of the several possible options, preferably out the final plan. The author built the Cogging torque model, optimized the geometry of the slot and the pole arc coefficient. And other parameters of the motor design was gived. The designed prototype motor was simulated used the Ansoft finite element software, a number of technical indicators was given, some design parameters impact on the motor performance was analysised finally in the end of the article, The result fully meet the requirements of the subject, that the 15kW low speed high torque permanent magnet synchronous motor replace the beam pumping unit's 22kW induction motor. The work completion of these optimistic has a useful help to solve the current problems in oil field pumping unit .
