The synthesis of C60 nanotubes in the pyridine system exist the problem of low tubular rate, as well as the toxicity smell of pyridine itself. To solve the above problems, N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone, was used as good solvent due to its low volatility and toxicity to replace pyridine in the synthesis of C60 nanotubes, which will help the large-scale green synthesis of C60 nanotubes. At the same time, C60 nanotubes prepared with N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone showed high hollow structure and uniform size. The C60 nanotubes present three different morphologies the fence-like nanotubes, porous nanotubes, hexagonal nanotubes. Through discussion and analysis of the experimental conditions, the paper provides the optimum conditions to prepare C60 nanotubes with different morphologies for the purpose to improve the repetition rate and tube output rate.According to UV-vis spectra of C60 mother solution and C60 nanotubes with different morphologies, possible growth mechanisms of C60 nanotubes are proposed that the synthesis of C60 nanotubes is closely related the formation of charge transfer complex and the packing structure.
