The constant-tension control in paper tube machine is a very important aspect of paper tube production process. For paper tube, the unstable-tension lead to the inconsistent of compaction and diameter sizes, bring about surface wrinkles or pagoda-shaped end by the movement bias for paper tape ,which will increase waste rate of paper tube.This thesis in-depth research the law of the tape tension changes and clarifies tension control system theory and control method in paper tube machine as JT200 type paper tube machine. It is established in this thesis the mathematical model of the tape tension control system in scroll unwinding as well as detail analysis and deduction are carried out. The expression of tension formula are obtained,and it is also demonstrated that tape linear speed and scroll radius are two major interference which cause tension fluctuations. This thesis discuss the theory and the role of various parameters of basic PID control algorithm and point out that tension control system is a large time-varying system because of the changing all the time of scroll diameter and angular velocity. Basic PID control algorithm can not meet the requirements and it need to be improved on its basis. The merits of integral-separation PID algorithm, speed-changing integral PID algorithm and differential forward PID algorithm and input filtering PID algorithm are analyzed. Combining with the characteristic of JT200 type paper tube machine, the integral-separation PID algorithm is adopted to control the tension force and the normal adaptive methods of PID control in engineer application.The normal tension control actuator is expatiated and the working characteristic of the magnetic powder brake is introduced.The design of tension controller for tension control system in paper tube machine is completed using 32-bit high-performance controller ARM7 LPC2378 as main control unit. Using magnetic powder actuator as the component of the tension controller, the tension force detection signal from the tension sensor is compared with the reference signal, after data processing adopting certain control strategy to adjust the control signal in real time for the purpose of controlling the paper tension.At last, the way of demarcating the rating tension for the tension controller of type JT200 paper tube machine is introduced. According to the PID parameter adjusting way, one procedure is given.
