Cationic collagen copolymer was synthesized with collagen hydrolyzate and cationic monomer, which was methacryloyloxyethyl trimethyl ammonium chloride, as the initiators was the terthydrogen peroxide (t-BHP) and sodium metabisulfite, through graft copolymerization under the protection of nitrogen, which based on the principle of solution polymerization and radical polymerization. We characterized the structure through infrared spectroscopy (IR), thermogravimetry (TG) and Gel permeation chromatography (GPC). Moreover, the product was applied to the harmless disposal in the waste drilling fluid and leather dyeing process, the main research and result were shown as follows:(1)Analysis of flocculation effect for hydrolysis of collagen: collagen was hydrolyzed by complex enzyme (the mixture of neutral protease and trypsin) through enzymatic method, all the product was applied in the waste harmless disposal waste drilling fluid. The method of single factor analysis was used to optimize the best reaction condition, in which the chemical oxygen demand removal efficiency (PCOD) of serum and suspended solids removal efficiency (Pss) were as index. The optimal condition to hydrolyze collagen was as followed: reaction time was2hour, reaction temperature was40℃, the pH of the system was7.0and the ratio of mixture enzyme and collagen was1:50. Finally, the result of PCOD and PSS was57.4%and71.7%for the waste drilling fluid. The sensory flocculation effect was the supernatant of the waste drilling fluid was more transparent and lower turbidity, but there was much more flocs and low compactness. However, it produced large amount of sludge, and it was not benefit for the harmless disposal of solid waste.(2)Synthesis and characterization of cationic collagen copolymer: cationic collagen copolymer was synthesized with collagen hydrolyzate and cationic monomer methacryloyloxyethyl trimethyl ammonium chloride, the terthydrogen peroxide (t-BHP) and sodium metabisulfite was as initiator, by graft copolymerization. Then, the grafting rate and viscosity was as index to optimize the reaction condition. The system pH was9.5, the ratio of collagen and DMC was0.6, the cationic monmer polymerized temperature was60℃and the polymerized time was60minutes. In addition, the grafted temperature of collagen was60℃, the grafted time was120minutes, when the ratio of t-BHP and SPS was1, and DMC was1.5%, the grafting rate of the monomer could be up to70%, and the maximum viscosity of cationic graft copolymer was35000mPa·s. Furthermore, the characterization result of IR, TG, and GPC indicated that the reaction was carried out according to the route of the desired design.(3)Application of cationic collagen copolymer in waste drilling fluid:the flocculant was applied in harmless disposal of waste drilling fluid. We researched the factor of chroma, PCOD, Pss through the method of single factor analysis to optimize the effect for flocculant. The amount of flocculant was20ml; the pH of system was7.0. Compared with industrial flocculant, the result showed that PCDMC had a higher PCOD and Pss, moreover, PCDMC could remove chrome, and the waste water reached the standard of secondary sewage.(4)Application of PCDMC in leather dyeing:PCDMC fixing agent was applied in leather dyeing, compared with formic acid and DT-A622(which come from De Mei Ting Jiang), respectively, the properties of the crust leather, dye uptake, value of K/s and resistance to wet and dry rub fastness were as the evaluation index to evaluate the effect of dyeing fixing. When the solid content of PCDMC was37%, the grafted ratio was69%and viscosity was300-600mPa·s, application result showed that the properties of softness and color of the crust leather were improved, the dye uptake was97%, the value of K/S was23, the dry rub fastness and wet rub fastness were increased0.5or1grades.
