Oil-based drilling fluid have some inimitable advantages compared with water-based drilling fluid,butBecause of containing a large of oil,more attention should be paid to environment.At present, there is fewstuding on Environment impact assessment of waste oil-based drilling fluid, and some exstiing methodshave obvious defects and boundedness. So,it is important to improve the assessment work and seek to afeasible treat method.Firstly, the features and environmental hazards of waste oil-based drilling fluid and some treatmethods are overviewd in this paper. Secondly, physical elements and chemical composition of oil-baseddrilling fluid in different stages are analysed. Thirdly, the environmental hazards of waste oil-based drillingfluid and the applicability of Solidification Methods are studied and evaluated.Lastly, the method oftreating waste oil-based drilling fluid withsolvent extraction is researched.The results shown that, the main chemical composition of that two oil-based drilling fluid containsorganinc matter,silicate and barium sulfate whose contents reached the highest point at the cycle stage. Thetext of pollution index of the oil-based drilling fluid waste indicated that, the content of heavy metal ionand pH value does not reach the standard, but the value of COD and Oil Type surpasses far more than thestandard,as well as other organic matter. Hence, the judgement can be made that oil-based drilling fluidwaste belongs to hazardous wastes. The results of studying on oil-based drilling fluid waste treatment usedsolidification method shown that, after adding different proportions of curing agent, the value of COD,OilType and organic matter surpasses the standard also. So, the solidification method can not be used intreating oil-based drilling fluid waste.Then solvent extraction method with organic solvent A has been done,and the value of COD, Oil Type and organic matter has been reduced greatly to the level of water-baseddrilling fluid waste which can be treated by the method of solidification.
