As one of the earliest synthetic polymers, phenolic resin is widely used in life by virtue of its excellent heat resistance, acid resistance, water resistance, solvent resistance, electric insulation, etc. With the further requirements of the polymer properties, we need to constantly develop new synthetic methods and technology to improve product performance.Tert-butyl phenolic resin expands the use of a phenolic resin, as which has been widely used in the coating industry, rubber industry, and adhesive industries. It was mainly used in floor paint, outdoor paint, marine paint, tire manufacturing, conveyor manufacturing and enhanced plastic manufacturing.In this thesis, the preparation of tert-butyl phenolic resin as a starting point, we studied on the influence of different reaction parameters to performance of the product under atmospheric pressure and high pressure in order to optimize the preparation of tert-butyl phenolic resin. The reaction parameters involved include: reaction time, reaction temperature, catalyst type and amount of catalyst. Infrared absorption spectroscopy (IR), gel permeation chromatography (GPC), thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), volatile test and other modern testing methods and technologies for the synthesis of tert-butyl phenolic resin were characterized. Through preparation of tert-butyl phenolic resin reaction parameters compared to under atmospheric pressure and high pressure, different reaction parameters were obtained.At the same time, the heat resistance of phenolic fibers which was made by centrifugal fiber forming proceeds under different melting temperature was investigated. Modern testing methods and technologies such as infrared absorption spectroscopy (IR), gel permeation chromatography (GPC), thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), were used to characterize the phenolic resin obtained by horizontal centrifugal fiber. The level of spun fiber of phenolic fiber obtained by horizontal centrifugal fiber owns uniformity and longer fiber length. By thermal gravimetric analysis of the TGA curves, horizontal centrifugal fiber forming process, and maintain the structure of the polymer molecules to the same case, the level of Spun fiber processing technology to improve the heat resistance of phenolic resins. Phenolic fiber has better heat resistance, curing operation significantly improved heat resistance.
