The status and the developing trend of Automatic Grenade Launcher(AGL) has been introduced in this paper, the main technical characteristics of the 25mm Automatic Grenade Launcher has been analyzed, and the two key technologies of the 25mm AGL-the high-low pressure interior ballistics and the advancing ignition principle has been researched:(1) Based on the Classical interior ballistics theory, Weapon gas dynamics theory and High-low pressure interior ballistics theory, a mathematics model of the high-low pressure interior ballistics, after-effect period and gas chamber has been established. The effects of some ballistic parameters react on ballistic performance has been studied, which can offer calculation basis for the research of high-low pressure interior ballistics.(2) Based on multi-body system dynamics theory, the dynamics model of 25mm Automatic Grenade Launcher has been established, with the dynamics simulation software-MSC.Adams. The effect of the advancing ignition and the conventional ignition acting on AGL has been compared, the recoil energy of the advancing ignition was smaller has been worked out, so the force act on the firer can be reduced, which will provide evidence for the study of decreasing the recoil energy of 25mm Automatic Grenade Launcher later.Furthermore, the barrel is one of forced parts of Automatic Grenade Launcher, in this paper, based on finite element method, strength analysis and structural optimization has been carried out with ANSYS. By optimizing, the best wall thickness has been sorted out, which satisfies the strength requirement, and minimizes the volume and the quality of the barrel. By strength analysis, the maximum stress of the barrel has been worked out, the stress distribution of different cross-section and the stress distribution between the inwall and ectotheca on one cross-section.
