In the recent years, the state encourages the development of automatic mechanical transmission (AMT) that use in small passenger cars. It becomes the focus of vehicle and transmission companies. The shift control is an important part of AMT control system. The shift schedule has an important effect on the power and economy of the vehicle. The paper studies the shift schedule. Now the commonly used shift laws are double parameters, three parameters shift laws. There are certain disadvantages of them, such as when the vehicle is uphill it induces circulating shift, when the vehicle is downhill the speed is unsteady. In allusion to these problems, the paper improves shift schedule. It uses the intelligent shift control laws. This paper analyzes the characteristic of the shift law. According to the analytical method, it uses computer programming to calculate the optimum power shift rule, the best economic shift rule and comprehensive shift rule. In power, economy shift the basis of by the appropriate correction, determine the discretion oil temperature shift rule, plateau shift schedule, ice and snow pavement shift rule, the ramp shift rule. The paper establishes the shift control system. It identifies the driver's intentions and the driving environment then selects the appropriate shift schedule. It adjusts the shift according to the driving condition. It should ensure that the vehicles in appropriate shift. It uses MATLAB/Simulink to establish the shift control system model. It can simulate the performance and typical working condition of the vehicle. Through the simulation it can get the results as follows (1) The 100 kilometers acceleration time is 13.31 seconds and the maximum speed is 182.6 kilometers per hour. The hundred kilometers fuel consumption is 7.62. The power and economy of the vehicle are improved. (2) When on the uphill road, it eliminates the shift circulation phenomenon. When on the downhill road, the speed can keep stability. It uses dSPACE real-time simulation system to carry out the real car experiment. The test result is per hundred kilometre acceleration time is 14.4 seconds. It shows that the simulation results are reasonable and the simulation model is correct.
