Concrete Filled Steel Tubular(CFST) is a type of composite component that the concrete is filled into the steel. In recent years, with steel concrete components are widely used in construction projects, its advantages and role are more and more respected. The fire-resisting limit of CFST components is longer than steel structure and the execution of CFST components'work is easier, together with high bearing capacity, good plasticity and ductility and superior earthquake-resistance performance. CFST is widely used in building structure such as one-layer and multi-layers factory building, various bracket, super high-rise building and bridges structure.The study of CFST will become a hot topic in the future. In this paper, according to the design plan of the Xianyang international airport extension project, using the finite element program Midas Gen, the space model of Reinforced Concrete columns and CFST columns are established, the differences between using reinforced concrete pillars and steel concrete pillars are studied. Compared the structure of the two model results in the internal force and the impact of the earthquake. Given some valuable conclusion for engineering design staff. Mainly for the following works:1. The CFST concept, characteristics, research status are summarized;2.Discusses the mechanical properties and theory of computation of CFST;3.Summarizes the seismic design method of concrete filled steel tube;4.According to the specific project-Xianyang International Airport Expansion Project.Established the first model (CFST) with HZ1; All the CFST columns are replaced with the equivalent bending stiffness reinforced concrete columns, established the second model (RC1(D=2.3m)); To determine the reinforced concrete column cross section with displacement of the top columns, use this section to establish the third model (RC2(D=2.8m)). This paper calculated and analyzed the three models with SATWE and Midas Gen. Discussed the performance of the three structural forms.Obtained that using CFST columns in the frame structure has many advantages.5. Summarized the nodes of CFST columns and reinforced concrete beams, introduced the node of this project and the reason of using this node.
