In recent years, with the continuous upgrading of electronic power electronics, large scale integrated circuit, computer technology and control theory, motor control technology has been rapid development.In the past,the main application of motor is offering power for other machinery and equipment,and now the motor is not only limited to this, but to achieve precise control of the motor.Brushless DC motor is now a more popular motor types on the market, and compared with the traditional brush motor, brushless motor use electronic commutation equipment instead of the original mechanical commutation device, to improve the life of the motor and the motor control system stability. At the same time, the emergence of the field programmable logic device (FPGA) provides a more convenient way for DC motor control, as opposed to the traditional control of MCU and DSP, FPGA's timing control has a more powerful capability, and internal resources is more abundant.For the above, this paper describes the FPGA-based control of brushless DC motor technology.This article analysis the advantages of the FPGA, the characteristics of brushless DC motor, PWM control, and motor control system's hardware and software design, which is an innovation of traditional motor control.System uses the Altera Corporation, Cycloneâ…¡series FPGA chip as the system master, and use Quartusâ…¡development software as a software development environmentThis paper makes a a detailed description for the hardware circuit (including the drive circuit, power circuit, current detection circuit, etc.), and the main components which will be used and its main properties are described, and along with associated circuit and the simulation waveform.For the software part (including the PWM wave generation,PID control algorithm, speed detection, etc.) also done a thorough exposition,and the relevant algorithms, theory is explained, and made a chart for referenc to the development process, some module is along with the relevant code and timing simulation diagram.
