The traffic volume of highway is continuously increasing with the development of transportation; some in-service highway and bridges haven't satisfied the current use requirements. So, broadening the highway and bridge is imminent. The pre-stressed concrete hollow slab bridges are widely used in all levels highway bridge in China. Scientific,applicable and economical hollow slab bridge widening improvement program has the important significance to save construction budget and create a good social and economic efficiency.In this paper, the Bei Ma Gou Bridge in Beijing-Zhuhai expressway is chosen as example. It is a simply-supported hollow slab bridge. The expansion of this bridge has been studied in a deep going way. The important contents are as follows:(1) Contrasting and analyzing various domestic and international bridge and combining with the reality of the Bei Ma Gou Bridge, the 3D-finite-element model of the bridge before and after being widen is established in use of The finite element method. Next, we analysis the dynamic of the hollow slab bridge; We did Environment vibration test on the Bei Ma Gou Bridge, last, verified the rationality of the design scheme by comparing with experimental results and the theoretical solution.(2) Considering the inconsistency of the new and old bridge settlement and combining different settlements, we analysis the influence to widen bridge of uneven settlement and given the settlement control indicators and ways of eliminating differential settlement in the process of bridge widening.(3) Considering the shrinkage and creep properties in the process of bridge widening, analysis the shrinkage and creep properties of the new bridge slab by ANSYS metal creep function. Last, given the reasonable time of storage beam that the time which have a guiding significance in order to ensuring new and old beam connect smoothly.(4) By analyzing Deformation and Stress of bridge under self-weight, pre-stressed and vehicle load, assured deformation and stress performance of the bridge structure and combined Design specification, and given the reasonable suggestion of the bridge broaden.
