New enlightenment and acquaintance are transmitted through seismic hazard of the strong earthquakes in recent years. The constructions that designed and built according to the present seismic design idea aims at life safety didn't collapse, ensured the life safety of the public, but the destroy of the earthquake caused a great economic waste. Lacking of the deep acquaintance of the constructions'nonlinear characteristic under strong earthquake is the main reason leading to a great economic waste. Based on above acquaintance, a new seismic idea was born: the idea of performance-based seismic design.Yield Point Spectra is a new constant ductility response spectrum with displacement-acceleration format. YPS allows peak displacement and interstory drift indices to be estimated, the seismic performance of the system to be valued by nonlinear static analysis. As a nonlinear static procedure, YPS method is effective, simple and clear. In this paper, YPS was computed by the average of 4 certain ground motions and code response spectra under moderate and strong earthquake according to the example and present Chinese code. The inverted-V concentrically braced steel frame (CBSF) as a double system of lateral force have the advantages of overall stiffness and small moment of beam-column, more and more widely used in high-rise buildings system. In this paper, three inverted-V concentrically braced steel frame of six, nine, twelve stories are designed according to Chinese design codes. To estimate the peak displacement and interstory drift indices by YPS method and dynamic time-history analysis with SAP2000 software. Comparing of the result of the two methods to evaluate the seismic performance of the inverted-V concentrically braced steel frame and the applicability of the YPS method.
