Renewable generation including wind power is developing rapidly with increasing lack of fossil fuels and pressure of climate change. Wind power integration into grid is an effective way to large-scale develop and utilize wind energy. With the increasing wind power capacity, random fluctuant wind power will increase the pressure of power balance and even threaten the economic and secure operation of power grid. The peak regulation capbility becomes the main factor that restricts wind power acceptance ability, which includes two aspects:first, when wind power increases, conventional units reduce the output to achieve active power balance; second, when wind power drops, conventional units increase the output to make up for shortfall of active power. Therefore, the goal of wind power integration into grid is to accept as much wind power as possible based on grid power balance. The first task to study wind power integration is to study wind power fluctuation profile in temporal and spatial domain to provide basic data and scientific basis for wind farms plan and construction. Secondly, to improve wind power acceptance capbility with energy storage is concerned nowadays, the main problem of which is to coordinate the operation of wind and energy storage system. It's obviously meaningful for this thesis to choose this subject for deep research in the context of rapid development of wind power. Following researches are made to the issues mentioned above:1) The wind power fluctuation in Shandong power grid is analyzed based on NASA GEOS-5 DAS system. Seansonal and diurnal wind power fluctuation profile, regional coorelation and coorelation between wind power and load are accessed. Wind power clustering effect is analyzed at last. The method and results provide scientific basis for wind power plan.2) A method is introduced to calculate wind power acceptance capbility based on peak regulation capacity. Wind power acceptance capbility of Shandong power grid on typical days is analyzed. The results show that the wind power acceptance capbility is different. The wind power acceptance capbility will be significantly improved considering wind power clustering effect.3) The coordinated operation model of wind power and pumped storage power station (PSPS) is built. Acoording to study example analysis, the rationality of coordinated operation doesn't always valid. When wind power capacity is little, PSPS is not necessary. At high levels of wind power capacity, it is shown that storage increases wind power utilization and reduces traditional units'generation.4) The charging load characteristics of plug-in electric vehicle (PEV) are studied. Impacts of PEVs charging at free mode on grid load characteristics are analyzed. The coordinated dispatch of PEVs and wind power is proposed. Through the analysis of regional grid under 2020 scenario, it is shown that dispatching PEV charging has potential to offset power unbalance due to load reduction or wind power incresement, accept excessive wind power. Research results provide basis for PEV charging network planning and intelligent dispatch.
