The pressure-dispersed anchor cantilever retaining wall has been proposed. It is a combined retaining structure. It is constructed by reinforced concrete wall, anchorage plate, steel strands anchorage cable, and the filling soil between the wall and plate. The wall and plate is connected with anchorage cable.The retaining wall structure has been design by theoretical calculation. According to real conditions of Qinglin highway, the design parameters have been proposed. The supporting mechanism has been analyzed. Through the safety theoretical calculation, we can confirm that the pressure-dispersed anchor cantilever retaining wall is suit for the high roadbed and the earthquake zone.The mechanical characters during the construction period, operation period, and earthquake period has been analyzed by finite element method. (1) During construction period, the pre-stressed anchor cable can improve the mechanical character of wall stem. It meets the requirement of safety. (2) During the operation period, the earth pressure increases linearly along the wall height from top to bottom approximately. It decreases sharply at the filling soil in the wall outer side near road surface. The total earth pressure value is between the values of active earth pressure and static earth pressure. (3) When the seismic load applied to the retaining wall, the stresses vary depending on the load curve. The peak stress is delayed compared with the seismic load peak. The peak earth pressure on wall stem is 1.89 times that during operation period. The pre-stress will be reduced due to the vibration during earthquake period. It is only the half of that before the earthquake applied.The construction technique and the monitoring method have been investigated. The water release, corrosion resistance, and anti-filtration layer are installed by rules. The retaining wall and anchor plates are made of field reinforced concrete. The anchor plate and wall stem are connected with pre-stressed anchor cable, and the PVC casing pipe with grouting is used for corrosion resistance. In order to prevent the bending and shearing damage due to the non-uniform settlement of roadbed, the cement mortar is backfilled to the outside of casing pipe. The field monitoring will last the entire construction period and operation period. The steel-wire earth pressure cell and anchor cable ergometer was used for the stress and deformation monitoring in wall stem, anchor plate and cable.In a word, the following topic is discussed intensively:the theoretical design of retaining wall structure, the mechanical characters during the construction, operation and earthquake period, the construction technique and monitoring method. This research enhances the recognition level to the novel retaining wall. The research result shows that this kind of retaining wall is good for the high roadbed, and it is effective and economic.
