Detention time of wagon at stations is the most important factor for influencing turnaround time, but now it accounts for about two-thirds of turnaround time, seriously affects the delivery rate of goods, so shortening the detention time of wagon is an important way to accelerate turnaround of wagons. Counting detention time of wagon have two ways, average detention time for transit wagon ("TT" is short for it) and average detention time for one goods operation ("DT" is short for it). The TT index and the DT index should be accounted separately.In this paper, firstly it will use the principle of System Engineering to analyze the composition and influencing factors of TT and DT; on this basis, use Component Analysis to calculate the TT index and the DT index. Component Analysis for TT use the direction of departure as the standard of dividing transfer sets, the transfer wagon is divided into the many transfer sets, use the statistics theory to get the average transfer time, important rate, contribution time, the rate of contribution, according to the rate of contribution, it can get the influence degree about the subset for TT, Also compared with the plan TT, it can get positive effect or negative effect about each subset for TT. For the most negative effect subset, it will analysis the process or have further breakdown to find reasons of increasing TT. Component Analysis for DT is to divide the wagons of loading and unloading operation into several operation subsets by loading and unloading location(or goods type, consignor, consignee), to get the detention time, contribution,and the rate of contribution of each subset, according to the rate of contribution,it can get the influence degree about each subset for the DT. Also compared with the plan DT, it can get the positive effect or negative effect about each subset for DT, For the most negative effect subset, it will analysis the process or have further breakdown to find reasons of increasing DT. Component Analysis is supplementary for the traditional indicators; it is a structural analysis essentially. It is conducive to prioritize, focus, and prescribe the right medicine, improve their work.This paper, for the problem of a large number of transit wagons at the station, classifies transit of wagon by the Concept Description and ID3 Decision Tree of data mining. The Concept Description, according to different attributes of transit wagon, will divide it into different categories, descript transit wagon qualitatively. ID3 Decision Tree, based on the Concept Description, has a further classification. The basic idea of ID3 Decision Tree is according to the principle of entropy reducing extent, makes transit wagons decision tree form the root to leaf nodes, and each represents a classification standard; then calculated each indicator, using the Component Analysis, making level clearly, easy for decision-makers to carry out targeted analysis,to make rational decisions.Based on calculation principle, using SQL Server2000 and PowerBuilder.0 to design station TT and DT component analysis information system. SQL Server2000 is the background database, storage, organization and data of management of TT and DT. PowerBuilder.0 is the application development platform, to achieve station TT and DT component analysis information system of human-machine interface. The system is easy to statistic TT and DT, and then analyzes, draws conclusions; easy for decision makers to forecast, estimate TT and DT, and put forward feasible, targeted measures to reduce detention time of wagon and improve the operational efficiency of wagons.
