Electrical capacitors for traction converter include support capacitor and secondary filter capacitor. The selection and application of electrical capacitors are the key technologies, that are related to the traction converter stability, reliability and economics.In this paper, metallized film capacitor property and aluminum electrolytic capacitor property are firstly carried out a detailed comparison. By comparing, it is concluded that metallized film capacitor is the best choice for electrical capacitor. The internal structure and influencing factors of metallized film capacitor are introduced in detail. The main technical parameters of electrical capacitor are proposed.Followed, circuit designing method for choosing support capacitor is introduced in detail, pulse rectifier as an example. Simulation method, estimation method, the energy calculation method and experimental method are also put forward.In this paper, the application of electrical capacitor is deeply studied, including:●The impact of secondary resonant circuit parameter offset is deeply analyzed. The conclusion that secondary resonant circuit parameter offset impact system greatly is derived. Further, it is concluded that secondary resonant circuit and support capacitor design criterion.●As support capacitors in parallel, the existence of current oscillation phenomenon is analyzed. And capacitor parallel arrangement technology is put forward.●The noise generation mechanism of metallized film capacitor is analyzed in detail and an effective restraining measure is put forward.This paper has mainly adopted means of theoretical analysis and derivation. And the conclusions are verified through MATLABLE/simulink simulation and experiment.
