Beam-arch combination bridge, combined by beam and arch,is a development to the traditional arch bridge and integrates their merits. Beam-arch combination bridge, combining the arch rib which mainly resistants pressure with the carriageway beam which mainly resistants bending moment, gives full play to the advantages of the two simple structures and the association between them, in order to save materials or reduce the requirement of the foundation. Between the span of 60 and 200m,beam-arch combination bridge is of competition for its strongpoints, such as low manufacturing cost, little difficulty to construct, nearly no-obstacle to ships, etc. For small and medium span continuous beam-arch combination bridge, arch rib usually connects with girder and crossbeam rigidly in the joint of them. The joint,of which the stress condition is extraordinary complex, bears the internal forces transferred by the arch rib, girder and crossbeam. Also, the complicacy of construction in the interlacement further aggravates the complexity of transition of the force in this region. For 3-D structure, at present the conventional method of design and calculation is to obtain the internal forces and stresses of cross section of the bridge with analytic tools based on truss or frame theory. This method is appropriate for the whole structure analysis, but difficult to reveal the complex local stress level and stress distribution of structure under particular load combinations. At present few theoretical analysis and experimental studies have been done on the connection area of the beam and arch of half-through continuous beam-arch combination bridge at home and abroad. This thesis deals with the study on the stress level and stress distribution of the connection area of beam and arch, by combining model test with finite element calculation by ANSYS.Also, this thesis testifies the rationality of the design and increases reference materials to similar structures.
