With the rapid development of economy, the government is strengthening the construction of infrastructure gradually. Thus, lots of high-grade ways and rail ways are built. To take this opportunity, lots of high-grade ways in mountainous regions of western China begin to be constructed. However, since the landform of the west mountainous which is full of hills and valley is very complex, the ration of bridges and tunnels is high and the roads are quit difficult to construct. Due to its own opportunities, the continuous girder bridge is developed rapidly and widely used. But the problem of the stability of the bridge pier is becoming more and more serious with the increasing of the height of the pier and the usage of the soft high-pier.Based on the practical situation of the general purpose graph of the bridge, on one hand, the stability of the pier is thoroughly studied and the rational formula of the effective length of high-pier is offered in this paper. Every parameter of the solution is analyzed and deducted, and has been appropriately analyzed. On the other hand, the calculation method of elastic restrained action of the bridge superstructure to the piers along the top of the cross bridge is put forward proved in engineering practice. The economic benefit of using this kind of elastic restrained action is coMPared. The main content of the paper include the statically analysis of different pier sections, the exploring of the influence of the gravity second-order effect on the result of calculation of the inner force of the pier., the actual modeling analysis on several common pier-shaped sections of the continuous beam bridge high-pier to work out the inner force of different high-pier sections in the same loading effect and coMPare them in the respects of bar arrangement checking computation and economy and the dynamic analysis of piers with different sections by the temporal analysis method of seismic and the mode-superposition response spectrum method to work out the strength and work situation of piers with different sections under the influence of earthquake.
