In the recent 30 years, along with the rapid development of the national economy, air transport industry has made great progress in China and a large number of regional airports have been in operation or under construction in the western mountains areas. As for the difficulty of the airport site selection in the mountainous terrain, airport is often built in the valley development, the basement and there may be alternately hard and soft bedding areas, which has resulting in the low-cut with high fill situations. In this context by artificial embankment slope stability problems comes to a major airport construction engineering geological problems.By taking the high embankment of Dashuigou in the YueZhao airport runway central district in Liupanshui, Guizhou province as an example in this article. Airfield is constructed by 3C-level in the short term, which can serve for seven planes safety movements at one time; long-term planning for the 4C, so it can accommodate Boeing B737 aircraft. Its runway length is 2,800 meters, groove width of 45 meters, and road shoulders 1.5 m each. The maximum fill height reaches 85.14 meters in this article.During the pre-feasibility study, its geological conditions is called Jiuzhai Panzhihua Airport complex by experts, as one of the most complex airports in the domestic and the world. Through the on-site investigation, drilling, laboratory test, engineering geophysical survey and other means, the site area of topography, lithology, geological structure, poor geological phenomena and the basic physical parameters of rock and soil has been identified in this article. On this basis, the high-filling body of the main study area and the underlying bedding slope landslide mechanism under various conditions have been studied by qualitative analysis. Finally, the traditional limit equilibrium methods and numeric procedural software FLAC3D were used to calculate the fill slope stability factor of this area and cross-checked by two methods, comprehensive evaluating of the slope stability. Before the construction, the analysis of various types of working conditions of the studied areas showed that the natural slope is the overall stability and local stability of the poor. However, after the runway construction, the slope has the trend to take place overall instability along the filling body with the lower part of the residual slope deposits of silty the underlying clay or completely decomposed, strongly weathered carbonaceous mudstone interface. Based on the stability of the final results of the evaluation, prevention and control measures had been put forward to about the slope.
