With the increases of the transport speeds. Rail testing is receiving more global attention than it has for many years. The railway condition is important to the security of train, but the traditional method about detect the railway crack is not suit the development of need of the times, So the railway department need a new method about monitoring railway urgently. This monitoring system must be has some advantages, such as detect quickly and high accuracy.This work is supported and funded by Aerospace research institute 608 and Tangzhi science&technology ltd and changsha locomotive depot. By comprehensive references and through analysis the rail crack monitoring equipment and principle widely used now. Design a new rail crack monitoring system and analysis about theory and feasibility testing. Using the pulses caused by train and rail crack and by added diagnosis modules and move monitoring date to ground analysing software analysed by proffesional staff.This system overcome the rail crack monitoring equipment and principle widely used now only can monitoring rail crack nearly. Verify the feasibility of monitoring rail crack in long range. These ways can improve the efficient of the monitoring system and also can decrease errors. The main achievements in this paper include:1. By comprehensive references and through analysis the rail crack monitoring equipment and principle widely used now. Manage the knowledge of rail crack monitoring equipment and principle systematically.2. Establish rail model. By analysis simulation results and the result get by the WFE. Verify the feasibility of the monitoring system.3. I doing work with the mechanism of how to prevent monitoring system misdiagnosis by the train and program with C language.. Design the rail crack monitoring system by use "wheel and rail impact" theory and "wave propagation" theory and so on.4. Verify the feasibility of monitoring rail crack in long range by two test. One test site is in changsha locomotive depot. Another test is take in laboratory. By analysis the test result, prove the feasibility of this monitoring system.
