With the development of IR array detectors. IR continuous zoom system has been widely used in lots of fields, and now it is one of the new projects in IR technology research. The system become an important branch in IR technology research. The military significance is especially remarkable. The continuous IR room's superiority is:none target is lost by system.Basing on the given IR detector the article designed a program for IR system,and also used the mechanical compensated method designed an operating waveband of the system is 8-12μm. the optical system has a constant F number of 3.5, and the zoom of the LWIR is 4:1, the focal length from 30-120mm.in this length the system can be changed continuously, chose 160×128 element uncool staring infrared focal plane arrays detector, the five focus points aberrations are well corrected, the MTF lines of each FOV are all closed to the diffraction limited, and from the Spot diagram show that the IR zoom system has high image quality. the article also determinated IR system the operating distance and lens data. The other thing is the article also related by concise that the methods of designing convex wheel in machine constructions, and the system tolerance.The analysis of the Spot diagram and MTF show that IR zoom system can meet the requirement of practical application. Another, by way of calculation show that the system can be used for airborne detection and tracking system.
