In recent years, frequent failures of catenary systems caused by strong wind in our country, mainly is wave of catenary systems, by the flow of the normal locomotive, causing scraping bow pantograph,worsely it can blow the support devices of catenary systems. Strong Wind has become the important factor in failures of Electrified Railway catenary systems,so research for windproof stability of catenary systems is imminent.Based on catenary systems of Xinjiang railway in strong wind area, using the nonlinear analysis module of the software package ANSYS, the finite model of catenary systems was discussed and wind-induced vibration response and modal were analyzed. Then it analyzed influence of different situations of structure height, span, the number of hanging strings on stability of the catenary structure.It analyzed influence of different situations of structure height, span, the number of hanging strings on modal of the catenary structure. The calculation result showed that The structure height and span had a great influence on load bearing properties of catenary systems: the smaller height and span were,the better static stability was; and the most appropriate hanging strings was 8 considering structural stiffness and compressive deformation.It discussed instability of catenary structure, considering relationship of structural stiffness and stability, the nonlinear buckling analysis was completed in different situations of structure height, span, the number of hanging strings on stability of the catenary structure.The analysis showed that it could obtain preferable stability by increasing the stiffness of the catenary support structure; The structure height and span had a great influence on load bearing properties of catenary systems:the smaller height and span were,the better static stability was; and the most appropriate hanging strings was 8 considering structural stiffness.Based on results of research for reliability of catenary systems, it achieved analysis of stress, displacement values, and system reliability of catenary structure,and then Adaptability, availability and reliability were disscused.It rummarized rules and characteristics of catenary systems instability, and provided reference and basis for further research of catenary systems reliability.
