The undertaking of transport industry and road construction is not only important for infrastructure and fundamental industries of social development, but also the lifeblood of national economic develpment. In recent years, the transport industry of China developing rapidly, and the mileage of highway traffic is also increasing quickly, which is only next to the United States highway traffic mileage. As the rapid development of road construction, the testing and maintenance on highway construction in China has become an important work. Therefore, how to evaluate quality of pavement is currently a very important topic.Pavement roughness reflects the driving quality, which is one of the important assessments of pavement quality. According to full knowledge of domestic and international Pavement roughness testing technique, a pavement roughness detection system has been structured, which is based on ultrasonic ranging sensors and inertial reference unit. The major work of the research is as follows.Firstly, the dissertation introduces the state of surface roughness detection technology in domestic and foreign, does the research on four kinds of detecting methods, such as fixed-base longitudinal detecting method, Follow-up benchmark detecting method, dynamic response detecting method and inertial reference detecting method, and makes a comparison in detail among them, and then designs a testing system on the whole and selects three evaluation index.Secondly, according to overall designs of the system, the dissertation designs the ultrasonic ranging module, the body vibration data acquisition and communication module, and makes the vehicle-mounted platform based on the devices. Thirdly, according to indicators of index, the dissertation completes the data acquisition system by HDL, which is of multi-channel, equidistance-graduated measurement, and that sends test data to upper through the serial port.Then, the dissertation completes the design of software for upper computer, which contains serial communication, computation, data presentation, data storage and man-computer interaction, etc.Finally, the dissertation does a preliminary test on the finished detecting system that verifies the feasibility of the program, and makes a summary, proposes some improvements.
