With good mechanical behavior and application properties, Steel Plate-Concrete Composite Beam(SPCCB), one of Steel-Concrete Composite Structure(SCCS), is more and more broadly applied in engineering and thus is an important research and application trend in the field of SCCS. However, there has been less systematic studies on mechanical properties of SPCCB so far.On the basis of predecessors' test work, referred traditional theoretical analysis methods of reinforced concrete beam and steel-concrete composite beam, the calculation formulas of SPCCB's stress during the stages of elastic domains, bending capacity, steel plate peeling load and deflection of steel plate, were suggested in this paper. And by compared the calculation results and the test results, the reasonability of the suggested formulas were validated. Then, in order to investigate the mechanical behavior of SPCCB and analyse the main affecting factors of its ultimate strength and stiffness, based on the above test studies, the three-dimensional models of the composite beam were established by ANSYS software. Simultaneously, in view of the material nonlinearities, the finite element analysis was extensively conducted for the mechanical behavior of SPCCB. Further, comparisons made between the test analysis and the finite element models showed good correlation, and approved the effectivity and correctness of the proposed model. Lastly, the effects of the main parameter's variations of SPCCB, such as the concrete grade of strength, reinforcing bar ratio, thickness of steel plate, length of steel plate, and stud connectors etc., were analyzed using the proposed model, and the results derived from the parameter analysis may provide some useful references for the study of SPCCB and its application.
