The technology of electronic power steering system has been popular research topic among the domestic automobile industry in recent years. The automobile EPS is an item of electrically controlled ECU unit controlling power-assisted system's current according to the vehicle speed signal and the torque signal from speed sensor and torque sensor, and through electric current sensor gathering power-assisted system 's actual current feedback to control system's input point . Control system's controlled member is the change quantity of current actually. This may make the controlled system track power-assisted system's response current perfectly. EPS system has good real-timeliness and reliability. After analyzed the domestic and foreign research present situation and development foundation of EPS system, the ECU unit hardware circuit and the corresponding software code have been designed in this article, and have been carried on the EPS system's bench test. This paper mainly contains the following several aspects:The first one, the ECU unit design tool and the method of controlled member model establishment are introduced. In this article the single integrated circuit MSC1210 is chosen, and MSC1210Y3's performance, PROTEUS, KEIL51 and the application method are also introduced.The second, In the full consideration of electrical power steering system control reliability and real-timeliness, MSC1210Y3 has been taken as the core of the control unit in the design .Through the electronic control unit's hardware design, the direct current motor actuation control and each kind of sensor signal gathering and processing have been completed, producing the variable duty factor PWM pulse wave through the single integrated circuit control the H bridge circuit to actuate the direct current motor to reverse, the EPS's request have been satisfied basically.After the design of hardware, the method of Modular design has been taken. The software code is composed mainly of main program, A/D converting program, measuring vehicle speeding program and so on.At last, the EPS test equipment is developed, the hardware circuit and the software system designed are carried on the gantry experiment, and the experimental result had verified: designed electronic control unit has stable property, realized good changed boost effect, it is indicated that the entire EPS system design has the accuracy, the validity.
